I document life as a quiet defiance of time. It doesn’t last forever, but maybe I can change that.

For over 20 years I’ve been interested in the connection between you and your chosen family.

Specifically, the way it shows up without being asked…the leaning in, the pull away, the quiet returns. The small, instinctive ways parent and child find each other again and again. It’s not just the connection to each other though, it is also the connection to our surroundings. The connection to the places we feel most alive. It’s one thing to take a beautiful picture, it’s another entirely to make it.

I work slowly, paying attention to light, to composition, to what’s already happening rather than forcing something into place. There is guidance, but it’s subtle. What I’m after is something that feels both natural and intentional.

I strive for a kind of honesty that is shaped just enough to seem like a dream. Were we really that beautiful? Was I ever that young? Were the children ever so round and chubby? Was her hair really that curly? I know how fast it goes and this is my attempt to hold onto it forever.
